Lovehoney Advertising Campaign

Lovehoney are the UK’s largest online sex toy retailer. They are ‘the sexual happiness people’ and offer the biggest range of products, help and advice of any online store of their kind in Europe. They are passionate about offering the best possible service with innovative and imaginative products. They are simply a really exciting brand with a fantastic story to tell and Halo were lucky enough to be the agency to help them tell it.

On Oct 3rd 2011 Lovehoney became the first sex toy retailer to have a TV commercial aired on primetime television, including daytime. Halo wrote the spot and worked with the incredible talents of Mark Simon Hewis (Director), Sarah Bartles Smith (Director of Photography) and the Producer Oliver Kendall from Home to realise the idea and create a beautiful 30 seconds of film.

The idea is simple. It’s a kiss. Just a kiss. A kiss in epic slo-mo set to an urgent piece of guitar pop (co written by Nick and Hamish from Halo with the studio wizardry of Matt Sampson and Chris Wigmore).

The ad reveals that the couple are just on their way to work, the cinematic kiss is the peck couples give each other before they leave for the office. It shows the benefits of a healthy, happy, adventureous sex life - without showing sex (vital if you want to get on daytime TV).

The TV ad was seen across Channel 4, ITV2, Living, MTV, E4, E Entertainment to name just a few, and was backed up by a press campaign running in Cosmopolitan, Company and Good Housekeeping(!). There was a series of outdoor media sites running 48 sheet billboards, 6 sheets and X-Track poster sites on the London Underground. An extensive online presence with banners, MPU’s and skyscrapers completed the media mix.

Alongside the campaign Halo have also worked with Lovehoney’s in house teams to redesign the website and bring the new branding to life.
