Bristol Airport Mural

When Bristol Airport asked us to take a brief for a graphic mural to adorn the walls of their new arrivals walkway, we had no idea about the physical size of the project we were about to take on. At over 2m high with a total length of 57m the shear scale of the piece was enough to fill our computers with the fear, and that’s before we even started sketching out the initial designs on paper!

This was a dream brief for us – commissioned to create an art installation that encapsulates more than just the iconic landmarks of the South West - the mural communicates the spirit of the region and represents the progressive and contemporary Bristol Airport brand. The mural welcomes visitors on their arrival to the West, but it also challenges, excites and engages a tourist audience about what it means to live and stay here.

The mural, like the region, takes you on a voyage of discovery, encouraging exploration and surprising the viewer as they journey down it’s full length.

It’s an experience and a destination itself, representing three months of glorious (and sometimes stressful) intense design that elevates a functional arrivals walkway to art gallery.

It’s not often a client asks us to go wherever our muse takes us, but for Halo this project defines a long held belief – that we can only produce our finest work if our client is as creative and passionate as us. Bristol Airport are exactly that.

Next time you arrive at Bristol Airport, please enjoy the mural in all it’s glory, but until then, we hope you like what you see here.
